We built ShopDifferent to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- An anonymous session id (cookie
sd_sid) so the site works and so we can limit free assistant questions per day. - Your cookie choice (cookie
sd_consent). - If you allow personalization: the searches you make and the categories, brands and deals you view, stored against your anonymous session to power "Picked for you". Recent searches are also kept in your own browser.
- If you allow analytics: anonymous counts of searches and deal clicks (the search text or deal and a timestamp) to power Trending and Popular.
- If you fill in a form: what you submit on the Pro interest list or Contact Us form (name, email, and anything else you choose to tell us).
- If you subscribe to Pro: your Stripe customer id and subscription status. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
How we use it
- To run searches, show deals and remember your settings.
- To personalize deals and count trending items, only with your consent.
- To reply to messages and contact interest-list members about the launch.
- To provide Pro features to subscribers.
Who we share it with
- Stores: when you click a deal you go to the store's site, usually through an affiliate link that tells the store we referred you. The store may pay us a commission. It doesn't change your price.
- Stripe processes Pro payments.
- Google (Sheets and Gmail) stores and emails form submissions to our team.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and its database.
- We don't sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
- Personalization history: until you clear it, or 30 days of inactivity.
- Analytics counts: up to 30 days for trending.
- Form submissions: until you ask us to delete them.
- Subscription records: as long as needed for billing and legal requirements.
Your choices and rights
- Change cookie choices any time on Cookie Policy & Settings.
- Clear your personalization history instantly with "Clear my history" in the Picked for you panel.
- Ask us to access, correct or delete your information through Contact Us (choose "Privacy request").
- Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have additional rights; we honor them on request.
Children
ShopDifferent isn't directed to children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change and adjust the date at the top.
